I have to be honest as an introvert i have never shared this with anyone especially a long post but now i think if it helps even one person then why not?
Entrepreneur mindset is very important and making a transition from employee to Entrepreneur does take time. Personally, it too me at least 12 months for my subconscious mindset to shift completely, with the help of lots of audio books and videos. (If you want me to share these audio books at resources comment below and i will share it with you, they have changed my life)
So I went for an JOB Interview yesterday for a 6 figure salary job. Now I know what you thinking an Entrepreneur going for job interview? True Entrepreneur going backwards right?
Let me explain. I went for the interview for fun. I had no intention of taking that job but I applied to prove that my skills and experience are good enough to get that job, which i manage to secure the interview.
So this is how interview went, after getting the admin and technical questions out of the way. They started to sell me that job, 4 week annual leave, sick leave and possible overseas business trip to attend conference. Mon- Friday 9-5 role.
And in my head I am thinking, I don’t really care about these and haven’t cared for last 3 years so why should I care now? I am a business owner and i take time off when I want and don’t need approval. Most day I work from home in my PJ have time to drop and pick up my kid from day care. Have time for gym in the middle of the day and I can make more money then the job on offer, my lifestyle is different then the 9-5 pm slavery. I wake up around 5 am everyday to get my work done in the 2 hours which if have to do during the day it will take me at least 4-5 hours. Do I really care about the annual leave from the work I love doing? Do I really need to be physically somewhere to attend conference? No, I use technology to attend seminars and conference live via video link and webinars etc.
So I didn’t like the sound of what he was offering and didn’t accept the offer but i got me thinking I am glad i came for this interview to see how people are still trying to sell you “job (Just over broke)” to use you as a resource to achieve their goal. They don’t care about your goals.
So if you don’t have your own goals and business then you will be use as a resource to help someone achieve their goal.
This experience gave me a good checkpoint to see where I am at with my Entrepreneur journey and validated my thinking against how an employee thinks, it gave me a assurance that I am an true Entrepreneur and my goals & vision are clear and I am sticking to it.
I hope this helps someone who is either thinking of becoming and Entrepreneur or trying to make that transition from employee Entrepreneur by working two jobs or working after hours on their business.
